Class 10 Foundation
Class 10 Foundation : In 2018, over 10 lakh students appeared for the JEE Mains exam, while only 2.3 lakh of these qualified the Mains and went on to the second stage exam – JEE Advanced. This is less than 25% of the candidates appearing for the exam. The NEET exam, for admission to MBBS and BDS courses across the country, was taken by over 13 lakh candidates in 2018, of which about 7.1 lakh qualified for the counselling stage. However, with a large number of seats being reserved under various quotas, a person’s chances to secure admission in a desired college are severely diminished.
Class 10 Foundation for competitive exams
Given this intense competition, all students committed to making it to a recognized engineering or medical college must start preparing as early as possible – perhaps even before stepping into class 11. Building a solid foundation in science and mathematics during class 9 & 10 helps students tackle the challenging syllabus of class 11 & 12. Concepts are not built in a day and developing familiarity with complex science and maths topics goes a long way in applying them later. The Plancess Class 9 & 10 Foundation Study Material set consists of books on Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. It also has 2 additional books to aid with science projects and boost mental ability. This study material is suitable for aspirants of JEE & NEET exams, as well as those taking exams such as NTSE and various science and maths Olympiads in class 9 & 10.
The Physics books cover topics such as Laws of Motion, Gravitation, Electricity, Magnetism, Work & energy. These form the bases some of the most commonly tested topics (such as Mechanics, Laws of Motion, Heat & Thermodynamics etc.) on competitive entrance exams.
In Chemistry, there are readings on Atomic structure, Periodic table, Mole concept & stoichiometry, organic chemistry, chemical reactions and equations among others. While in mathematics, Trigonometry, progressions ands series, quadratic equations, probability and logarithms have been taught in a self-explanatory manner. The Biology books give an introduction to life processes, heredity and evolution as well as control and coordination – precursors to the plant and animal physiology topics taught in Class 11 & 12.
The Mental Ability book is particularly useful for students appearing in national level competitive exams or Olympiads. It covers both verbal and non-verbal reasoning questions. The Science project consists of a total of 62 experiments on various topics of Physics, chemistry, mathematics and Biology that will help cultivate a deeper understanding of science and maths concepts.
